Road wins send Rimrock girls to 3-0 on year

Thursday: Rimrock 45, Horseshoe Bend 30 — Kaile Muray and Anna Cantrell scored 10 points apiece to send the Raiders to its second non-conference victory of the season over the Mustangs.
Jackie Thurman pulled down six defensive rebounds en route to a team-high eight for Rimrock (3-0 overall), while Cantrell had five on Horseshoe Bend's glass as part of seven boards.
Jessica Durans scored 14 points for Horseshoe Bend, draining three three-point goals.
Tuesday: Rimrock 36, Castleford 17 — Jackie Thurman sank four of five free throws and hit a pair of three-pointers as part of her game-high 12 points. She also had eight rebounds as the Raiders hit the road for another victory.
Rimrock ruled the glass with 11 rebounds from Anna Cantrell, nine from Randie Denton and eight from Shoni Gennette.
Rikki Wiggins was Castleford's top scorer, with five points.

 

NC spoils Homedale girls' home opener

Thursday: Nampa Christian 59, Homedale 48 — Rachelle Christoffersen scored 14 points and fellow senior Hannah Johnson added 12 points, but Homedale lost a non-conference girls' basketball game to visiting Nampa Christian.
Homedale (0-2) trailed 35-16 at halftime.

 

Marsing edges Payette in opener

Tuesday: Marsing 39, Payette 36 — Rebecca Cossel pulled down 15 rebounds and scored eight points as the Huskies made new coach Gloria King a winner in her debut at home.
Kacie Hull led Marsing with 11 points.

 

Trojans girls drop season opener

Tuesday: Parma 60, Homedale 28 — Hannah Johnson scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, but received little backup. Parma rolled to a victory in the Trojans' girls' basketball season opener on the road.
Kali Roche had 16 points and 24 rebounds for the Panthers, who also were beginning their season.

 

Former Trojans named soccer player of the year

Antonio Bautista wins Cascade Conference award for College of Idaho — Homedale High School boys’ soccer player Antonio Bautista capped his season last week with the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year Award.
Bautista scored a team-high 21 goals for The College of Idaho in 2008, leading the Coyotes to within one win of the NAIA national tournament.
During the season, Bautista earned conference player of the week awards and also was named the NAIA national offensive player of the week on Oct. 28.
He tied for ninth nationally in goals scored and eighth nationally in points scored. He averaged 2.67 goals per game.

 

Owyhee seniors play in Shrine games

Shrine All-Star Games, 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Nov. 29, Thunder Stadium, Eagle — Six seniors from Owyhee County high schools will showcase their football talents one last time at the 13th annual District III Shrine All-Star Football Games.
Homedale’s Mitch Quintana and Marsing’s Sean Finley will participate in the 11-man all-star game as part of the West squad.
The 11-man game kicks of at 2 p.m. Quintana is listed as a wide receiver on the West roster, while Finley is tabbed to play linebacker.
The eight-man game will get things started at 11 a.m., and Rimrock High School will have a strong contingent on hand.
Raiders leader Jim Clark is listed as a coach on the East team’s roster, and he will oversee the play of Rimrock seniors TJ Snyder, Sam Richardson, Alex Meyers and Antonio (Tony) Ayala.
In all 41 high schools will be represented in the two games, which are sponsored by El Korah Shrine.
Tickets will be available at the gate. Adults will be admitted for $12 and students through the age of 18 get in for $6.
Proceeds benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children as well as to cover the transportation costs for Idaho children to and from the hospitals.
